I remember those days, Judith, especially when I denounced the "Trickle-Down Economics concept and for my pains was roundly vilified.

The thing about some of these clueless "conservatives" is they never admit to errors of judgment (much less actions or inaction). They go all the way back to Clinton to find blame for this meltdown, or point at Dem committee chairmen. It's pathetic.

40582. thoughtful - 11/25/2008 5:22:30 PM

Well the worse thing is that the cons blame w instead of reexamining their failed policies. So they keep deluding themselves into thinking their way of thinking is still correct. How much more disaster do they need before they get it? You'd think Iraq, Katrina, Gitmo, record deficits and debt, financial meltdown and global recession would give them a clue....

What really upsets me is when I think about the condition the country was in when w took over...we had so much economic strength, respect in the world, a world largely at peace, a global economic model that was working setting a path for development and wiping out poverty as had never been seen before, we had a fiscal surplus which could've been used to give the country world class health care, education and infrastructure...

What a waste. What an absolute, total, shameful waste.

And the weasels continue their lying and deluding the public. Now they realize they can demagogue and scapegoat in their quest to totally kill the union movement in America-- diverting attention from the greed that kept congress from changing the auto industry for decades.

Thoughtful's last two posts sum up my feelings exactly. I think I've made the case here before that when conservatives leave their campaign rhetoric in the dust and take up a government job they realize they have to govern and because of their anti-government sentiments they are ill-prepared for the job. This partially explains Reagan's deficits and debacles, and Bush's hopelessness as a leader. They finally realize the government must do SOMETHING, but they have no idea what.

Wiz, I heard some public service type of TV commercial just today about right to work and people being forced to pay dues, yada yada. I didn't catch the whole thing or who sponsored it. But yeah, the propaganda has started.

Oh, I should have clicked on your youtube post before commenting. That's the one I heard.

40590. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 11/25/2008 8:25:21 PM

Thanks anomie. This is an ironic series of Peter Schiff predictions from 2006. Just watch the conservatives laugh and ridicule him for his prophetic forecast.

40590 Thanks for this one, Wiz. It should be required viewing for almost everyone. And to think, Ben Stein is still on the talk show circuit. Idiots.

40595. anomie - 11/25/2008 9:47:41 PM

One thing Schiff said caught my ear. Something about too much much money and not enough production. Which is why I was looking for an inflationary cycle. I guess that's gonna come later. I heard someone on the radio ask how the government is gonna pay for these bail outs, and the answer was "by printing money".

40596. David Ehrenstein - 11/25/2008 10:24:41 PM

Wow but that clip's devestating!
