I hope that when Zimmerman is through with NBC, that he takes every other high provile a-hole who tried to publicly inflame public sentiment against him with racist comments and calls for vigilante action to the cleaners.

Susan Rice has requested her name be withdrawn from consideration for Secretary of State.

Congratulations, Republicans...another notch on your belts against women and minorities! And competent people!

45560. robertjayb - 12/14/2012 3:06:17 AM

Too bad about the way Susan Rice was treated. I have no view on her suitability for Secretary of State. The kerfluffle had no merit or real substance but it did further expose McCain and Graham for the assholes they are. Don't know what to make of Senator Ayotte of New Hampshire. Maybe she hoped to harvest reflected glory from the two supposed republican strongmen. Maybe her former prosecutor reflexes kicked in.

The Great Mentioners seem to think Senator Kerry of Massachusett has a lock on the job. Former Senator Kerrey of Nebraska would be my choice.

45561. judithathome - 12/14/2012 10:15:47 PM

Oh, it will be John Kerry and and one of the reasons McCain and the Stooges want him so badly is so the Republicans can run Scott Brown to fill Kerry's vacated seat in the Senate.

45562. robertjayb - 12/15/2012 3:21:17 AM

Okay. Then Kerrey with an "e" for SecDef. Governor, Senator, wounded Navy SEAL officer, Congressional Medal of Honor, university president, businessman. What's not to like? Maybe that he wouldn't be an aggressive cutter of the shamefully bloated DOD budget. On the other hand, etc., etc.

45563. robertjayb - 12/15/2012 7:44:26 PM

It's Kerry, sources say...

(Chicago Sun-Times) President Barack Obama has chosen Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts to be the next secretary of state, a source has told Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed.

His replacement as head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will be Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, the Sneed source said.

Lurch can call our troops war criminals from a position of real authority now.

45565. concerned - 12/16/2012 6:00:29 AM

JAH - this made me think of you ...

....not seeing a difference between registered and illegal firearms, for one thing. Is that really you, Chuckie Schumer....?

45566. concerned - 12/16/2012 6:13:51 AM

Hilliary: "Hubba Hubba Hubba!!!"

45567. concerned - 12/16/2012 6:18:02 AM

Hilliary's pantsuit passions....could be a bodice ripper of a novel in it.

45568. concerned - 12/16/2012 6:21:42 AM

She probably learned at Bill's and Monica's knees...

45569. judithathome - 12/16/2012 8:59:36 PM

Can't you give your hatred a rest for a day or two?

45570. Wombat - 12/17/2012 1:48:35 AM

Concerned should get psychiatric help...

45571. judithathome - 12/20/2012 9:11:55 PM

John Boehner just signed his resignation papers with this move...he's putting the same bill that was refused last May to the House...the one where people with a million or more get at least a $50,000 dollar break on taxes. And those of us less lucky get to have our Social Security cut and our Medicare cut and kids get their school monies cut and poor people get their food stamps cut.

President Obama has vowed to veto this bill if it indeed passes the House vote.

And Iago Cantor is smiling all the way to the gavel.

End of the year list:

In: gun control

Out: Wayne La Pierre

In: common sense

Out: John Boehner

45574. iiibbb - 12/22/2012 1:53:57 AM

Between Feinstein and the NRA I honestly don't think there is a sane person making decisions wrt gun control on the national stage.

But if I were to give odds on whether a new AWB or a cop in every school would be more effective in preventing these events.... I'd pick the cop.

I have low confidence an effective proposal will be found.

45575. arkymalarky - 12/22/2012 6:42:47 PM

No way on the cop. Too many places to cover and to easy to account for their presence and target them first in a pre planned attack. Plus, schools are no morecdangerous than malls, theaters or any other public places where numbers of peoplecare confined.

They will ban assault weapons again and the large clips if there's any sanity left in government. There's absolutely no valid use for them for civilians. They will also tighten background checks and close loopholes. They need to increase state and family control over those who are mentally ill and get them help. That needs to happen anyway. Too many people have been suffereing with zero help or recourse.
