45816. iiibbb - 8/19/2014 2:22:13 PM case in point...
... the come to "save" you from a home invasion and you'd wind up arrested.
Cops are not anyone's friend. 45817. judithathome - 8/19/2014 6:25:09 PM Well, I wouldn't say that...that's the same blanket statement that came from those jerks in Ferguson last night who threw rocks at Chris Hayes...the least intimidating of any newsperson on MSNBC...while he was live on air.
These "brave" souls with their faces covered yelled at him to "tell the truth"...they could neither hear what he was saying nor know what he had reported in the past because I doubt they've ever watched him on MSNBC...if they had, they would know he is sympathetic to them AND the case. I'd be willing to bet that didn't even know what network he was with...
Their reaction last night is sort of like yours: blanket assumption. Some reporters are bad, ALL reporters are bad...some cops are not your friend, ALL cops are not your friend. 45818. iiibbb - 8/19/2014 10:22:15 PM I should rephrase... a cop is your friend in that they will help you... but a cop is not your friend if they notice something out of the ordinary (illegal). They are generally not going to ignore that.
It can get ugly fast, and it doesn't even matter if you ultimately get off... the arrest and processing is bad enough.
As a specific... I had a small time pot dealer who lived next door to me in college. He was an okay guy and I'm not against pot. However, there was a guy who was hanging around their apartment a lot... one day a detective came by asking questions. I answered the questions... I even visited her in her office to answer some questions.
I told my neighbor that the day she starts asking direct questions I'm going to give direct answers whether it meant throwing them all under the bus or not. I've never done drugs... had no interest in them... wasn't going down for it. 45819. judithathome - 9/19/2014 8:12:22 PM Watching the interview Jon Stewart did with Bill Clinton last night...god, how I wish he were still President.
Jon Stewart w/Bill Clinton 45820. judithathome - 9/25/2014 8:30:07 PM BREAKING NEWS: Eric Holder to step down as Attorney General...Republicans rejoice and plan to block every name put forward to take his place.
We've seen that the country can function without a working Congress; now we'll see how it can do with no AG. 45821. arkymalarky - 10/11/2014 5:44:01 AM www.arktimes.com/ArkansasBlog/archives/2014/10/09/that-racist-leslie-rutledge-email
wow 45823. judithathome - 10/12/2014 9:16:10 PM Doesn't work for me....address, I mean. 45824. arkymalarky - 10/12/2014 9:34:50 PM if you google Arkansas Rutledge racist it's in several places. just unbelievable she's running for ag. And totally embarrassing she might win 45825. robertjayb - 10/12/2014 11:26:08 PM My perhaps too often repeated advice regarding police is never call a cop unless you are prepared to accept a cop's solution to the problem. It may not suit you. They have a limited toolbox. 45826. arkymalarky - 10/13/2014 12:36:10 AM Hey Robert! How are you? 45827. judithathome - 10/13/2014 1:01:42 AM Found the story, Arks...YIKES!
What an asshole! 45828. arkymalarky - 10/13/2014 4:14:24 AM I was floored. 45830. judithathome - 10/26/2014 8:34:20 PM I have heard Rob Portman's name bandied about as Presidential material for the Republican Party and hadn't realized the man was completely delusional until this morning...Chuck Todd just asked him what the difference will be if Republicans win the majority in the Senate in one week.
The man said...with a straight face..."Getting things done."
This, from a Republican...the party that has blocked every single "thing" of significance that came before Congress since January 2008.
Oh, I do believe they will get things done...like tabling immigration completely...ditto equal pay for equal work. And the minimum wage...if they had their way, they'd LOWER it...and ObamaCare will be gutted...and they WILL give the people who put them in office tax breaks but the voting public won't be part of that little bonus...because the percentage with all the money are the ones who put them into office, not the grubbing little guy who schlepped to the voting booth...
Also, after they get all the votes they need next week, they will get serious about changing voting rules to tighten them up so that even more people will be denied a vote in the NEXT election...let's see...what election will THAT ONE be for? Oh right....the next President.
And then, on to the Supremes...
So I hope everyone is comfortable in RepublicanWorld...and I hope you have enough money to live through it. 45831. judithathome - 11/2/2014 9:05:49 PM Michael Grimm, the Republican who threatened to toss a reporter off a balcony and "break him like a little boy" and who has a federal indictment for fraud against him....he is leading in the polls by 19 points.
That's almost as many points as there are charges in his federal indictment...
You can say this is just an example of how BAD his Democratic opponent is but I think it is an example of how low the Republicans will stoop when it comes to qualifiers for candidacy. They will accept ANYONE....as long as they hate Obama and can string 5 words together. 45832. arkymalarky - 11/5/2014 5:02:27 AM I have a love hate relationship with election night. Right now it's mostly hate. 45833. arkymalarky - 11/5/2014 5:54:32 AM The woman I referenced earlier in that article won. This is the most pathetic race ever in Arkansas. 45834. iiibbb - 11/5/2014 1:37:01 PM Garbage in garbage out garbage in garbage out. 45835. arkymalarky - 11/5/2014 4:27:41 PM nonono. that attitude is toxic. if you don't truly believe one is better than another there is no reason to vote. in ar I know or have at least met a lot of the people I saw on the ballot (not the senators). that is a false and IMO a dangerous premise. 45836. arkymalarky - 11/5/2014 4:32:41 PM this is how stupidly arkies voted: they gave legislative COMMITTEES power to veto rules authorized by executive branch agencies in a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.
I'm so glad I own a house in CO. I may be needing it. 45837. iiibbb - 11/5/2014 4:35:34 PM There is a reason to vote. Some of that garbage is toxic.
But I've little faith in the system right now to make coherent choices that benefit the country.
