And if all he wanted to do/be was an example of how a kid on the bottom can succeed, that would be fine.
I'm always suspicious of these kinds of inspirational stories. I mean, everyone knows that they are the exception rather than the rule, but the implication is that anyone can do it if they just want to try hard enough. The flip side of that is that anyone who doesn't make it is just plain lazy....which means 99% of poor people.
Yeah, I know poor people with three jobs. I'll take Hillary or Sanders. I like Sander's ideals, but I wonder how much he could actually get done. I may view him the way I view libertarians...
