46340. arkymalarky - 3/31/2016 10:50:04 PM I thought of you, threei, when I was listening to Susan Sarandon on Chris Hayes. I loved Dan Savage's response when he got on, that the lesser of two evils is less evil. 46341. iiibbb - 4/1/2016 5:47:41 PM I'm not familiar with the reference. Was that a recent interview?
The point I've been making to people lately who say things like "Hillary hasn't earned my vote" is to say "You are not voting for Hillary, you are voting for all of the people who are going to suffer under Trump and Cruz"... followed by "Protest votes make sense in primaries, not elections. If Democrats held Congress, or had enough reliable judges on the SCOTUS as a firewall, I'd be more likely to endorse a protest vote... but the timing is wrong and there is too much at stake. Trump is talking about withdrawing support of S.Korea unless they pay us. He wants Japan to arm itself with nuclear weapons."
And when I'm feeling snide, I lament that when we all die in a nuclear inferno of Trump's making... at least our protest votes will have shown Wall Street we were serious. 46342. iiibbb - 4/1/2016 5:48:23 PM Needless to say I don't even think of it as a "lesser of two evils" anymore. 46343. winstonsmith - 4/1/2016 9:49:40 PM My main thoughts are:
1. It is essential that we get good judges on the Supreme Court.
2. The Republican party needs to reap what it's sown WRT the crazy BS they have fostered for years. They deserve to lose this election and to lose much of their power. 46344. arkymalarky - 4/1/2016 11:22:16 PM And they need to lose all the way down ballot to dogcatcher. 46345. iiibbb - 4/2/2016 1:28:59 PM As crazy as Republicans are, they are at heart more tolerant of dissent. I got a ban hammer on a liberal boars for pointing out that even though she got groped and maced, the teenage girl from Wisconsin was not justified taking swings into the crowd before she was maced under self defense doctrine, and that doing so injects ambiguity and undermines your protest.
They could not comprehend that point... Said nasty things... Put words in my mouth and straw manned away.
Then she got charged with disorderly conduct.
Well, went back with that nugget... Another cycle of them being wrong.
I'll admit that I reveled in my victory a little too much, but even then a few of them doubled down.
The point I made before they banned me is that anyone should understand what is legally permitted for self defense. I was mocked for even knowing this, first that my "expertise" is because this is what is taught in self defense classes, and then for being paranoid enough to take a self defense class.
Lol.
I told them that the should go take a reading comprehension class and then drown themselves.
In spite of their extensive use of foul language and personal attack, I got the ban.
"liberal" fuckers.
Conservatives may just keep you around because they like to argue. But I swear some of the highest scoring MVPs of intellectual dishonesty and intolerance belong to liberal progressives. No contest. 46346. arkymalarky - 4/3/2016 5:07:22 PM I figure there are enough assholes on all extremes to go around. I've certainly got enough of the right-wingers here he simply will not tolerate any dissent wrt their opinions at all. 46347. arkymalarky - 4/3/2016 5:09:13 PM Who...not he 46348. winstonsmith - 4/4/2016 7:26:51 AM Iiibbb, I sometimes think that it is more a personality type than a political orientation. Some people are just extremely closed minded and approach the world with a righteous certainty that is maddening. You see people on the far left and the far right that hate each other but personality-wise, are two peas in a pod. 46349. iiibbb - 4/4/2016 9:18:42 PM In light of the erratic nature of the Mote

An alternate place to meet until things are repair here? I would like to keep in touch with all of you. 46350. iiibbb - 4/4/2016 9:20:00 PM I'll make any of you a Mod 46351. iiibbb - 4/4/2016 9:21:48 PM I agree Winston... the point I was more trying to get at is that while perhaps the Right is more close minded.... when it comes to actually shutting down dissent I've had more trouble with the extreme left.
I don't even consider my views that extreme. Every time I get banned it's over essentially minor stuff that totally disrupts their narrative.
46352. iiibbb - 4/4/2016 9:23:05 PM I don't want to replace this grand site... but I will be bummed if it goes down forever and we can't find each other. I have no contact with any of you. 46353. arkymalarky - 4/4/2016 11:04:06 PM Thanks 3i! 46354. arkymalarky - 4/4/2016 11:06:30 PM Since we are up for the moment, I have just gotta say I have never in Life or history seen a piece of work the like of Donald Trump. Now he's just trying to terrify everyone that if they don't elect him the economy is going to collapse and we're all going to die. What a Despicable specimen of humanity. 46355. arkymalarky - 4/4/2016 11:17:12 PM I'm trying to set up and it said I had to verify my email, and since I use an email that I only use to sign up for stuff like didqus, the overlords at Google would not let me in that email. 46356. judithathome - 4/4/2016 11:19:37 PM For anyone who wants to stay in touch via the internet, I have a site in a froun called AbleMinds...it's a "for pay" site at $10 annually but I'd be glad to pay anyone's dues if you'd like to try it out...actually, it has a free trial situation where you can check it out and if there is any interest in joining, I'd gladly sponsor everyone here the first year.
They use HTML shortcuts and have a "respond" fuction to individuals...
My forum is called Talkalot and it evolved from my previous forums at the Atlantic Magazine.
(Let Wabbit know if you are interested and she can send you my email address.)
By the way...I can't speak for ALL the forums listed at AbleMinds because I only go to a few...I've heard some of them are pretty "biased". 46357. judithathome - 4/4/2016 11:20:54 PM froun=forum 46358. judithathome - 4/5/2016 12:10:50 AM Here's a link to that forum: AbleMinds Forum 46359. iiibbb - 4/5/2016 12:10:56 AM I don't understand the snafu Arky. Why couldn't you verify?
