4643. wabbit - 5/21/2011 12:13:05 AM I've done volunteer work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and seem to have a developing reputation locally for helping the elderly with computers. As t'ful said, there are so many needs.
I've heard of Dress for Success and they sound like a wonderful group. All the job training in the world might not matter if you don't look the part and DfS fills that void for many women. 4644. judithathome - 5/24/2011 7:54:19 PM The rose bush my son gave me four years ago died this week. Have no clue what happened. 4645. arkymalarky - 5/24/2011 11:28:40 PM Ohhhh. 4646. judithathome - 5/25/2011 9:21:41 PM So...we're leaving tomorrow for Arky's...not bringing as much food as we usually do because I figure we can get what we need there. Also, frankly, I'm too lazy to go out and impulse-buy stuff today...ha!
I'm bringing cheap wine, cheap vodka, and a gently-used bottle of Midori.
Arky, when are the others arriving? 4647. judithathome - 5/26/2011 3:13:42 AM Update: We probably will be getting there after 5pm...Keoni has to see a client early tomorrow morning. So we'll get a later start. 4648. arkymalarky - 5/26/2011 3:18:41 AM Can't wait! People will be coming from Friday to Saturday. Not sure what times, but afternoon. Should be some nice surprises I hope. Y'all be careful and let us know when y'all head out! 4649. thoughtful - 5/26/2011 1:31:31 PM Thanks, Wabbit and Arky.
Certainly the elderly have lots of needs as well, but seeing as I have no children and have spent the majority of my life in elder care...and will again far too soon as hubby is much older than I....I think I need to focus on younger folks so I can keep myself young too.
I see that DfS has a need for volunteers who will do presentations to groups of women about the importance of image and dressing the part...that might be a good way to put my presentation skills to good use.
I hope y'all are safe in the middle of the country...seems these lines of horrible storms are unrelenting in your area. 4650. wabbit - 5/26/2011 11:57:03 PM I'll be getting up at 3am my time for a 6am flight - can't wait to get to Arky's...and my waterproof boots are packed. Warn the dogs!
JaH, you may get there before Ms. No and I do, but we'll see you tomorrow.
t'ful, I think you'll be great for DfS, they need you! 4651. arkymalarky - 5/27/2011 5:40:00 AM Can't wait! Weather is perfect too! 4652. arkymalarky - 6/12/2011 1:15:51 AM put on a white sundress i bought a couple of years ago. had spaghetti and wine.
sigh. 4653. arkymalarky - 6/12/2011 1:16:45 AM i think mose bought me dribble wine glasses as a joke and i just now got it. 4654. judithathome - 6/12/2011 4:29:21 PM Oh Arks! Was it one of the dresses we tried on in Hot Springs?
It may be too late but if you have any Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner IN A CAN...not the pump spray stuff...it will take the wine stains out ASAP. When you spray it on, the wine turns dark blue and you think you're ruined but it washes right out. 4655. arkymalarky - 6/12/2011 4:46:09 PM Thanks Judith! I can't remember where I got it, but it was on a good sale. iit came out with oxyclean spray. It's just irritating that i can't wear something like that and eat or drink anything. 4656. judithathome - 6/12/2011 7:06:17 PM Get used to it...the older you get, the more it happens.
I breathe a sigh of relief at every dinner when the first glop falls...like "Whew...got THAT outta the way!" 4657. alistairConnor - 6/30/2011 11:25:47 AM aaarhgh you just ruined my mental image of both of you gals... you're slobs like me??? Nooooo! 4658. arkymalarky - 6/30/2011 4:14:13 PM judith isn't. i'm a queen of slobs. allways have been, since preschool. 4659. arkymalarky - 6/30/2011 4:14:31 PM judith isn't. i'm a queen of slobs. allways have been, since preschool. 4660. Ms. No - 7/1/2011 10:20:11 PM That's why I tend to low necklines. I can just drop stuff into my cleavage and nobody ever notices. 4661. arkymalarky - 7/2/2011 12:28:34 AM haha! 4662. Jenerator - 1/25/2012 8:43:15 PM I had a bottle of Silver Oak's 1988 Cabernet last night. It's the first expensive wine I have had that had essentially matured past its prime.
My favorite these days has been chianti.
