46923. arkymalarky - 3/2/2017 7:35:38 PM That depends on what you're doing. To save ACA the youngest are the least effective block. Scared older people exactly like what we are seeing in town halls are the most effective and already have gop legislators very afraid of touching ACA. The Dems must keep that demographic active because they have the most impact on current members of congress.
If they manage to repeal ACA, the US will never get it back, no matter how many seats they win. It's much more effective to use different means of messaging to young people. They don't watch network tv. 46924. winstonsmith - 3/2/2017 7:40:36 PM The Sessions story came with perfect timing on the heels of the Trump speech. Sessions is such a POS. I just love that he has boosted the need for a Russia probe, trampled Trumps relatively good press from the speech, and pretty much, guaranteed that he will have to recuse himself. The hits just keep coming. 46925. arkymalarky - 3/2/2017 7:56:49 PM Totally agree 46926. judithathome - 3/2/2017 8:47:07 PM To save ACA the youngest are the least effective block.
That may well be true. However, THEY are the people we need to save it...how many times have we heard if more young people participated in it, it wouldn't be in the situation it's in now...at risk of being dumped by ignorant fools in bed with the insurance industry.
46927. judithathome - 3/2/2017 8:49:17 PM Best lead-in header to the Sessions story today is from The View: "BULL SESSIONS" 46928. Ms. No - 3/5/2017 5:10:33 AM Is there anyone at ALL in this administration who isn't a bald-faced liar? I mean, seriously, this is just bizarro-world.
And WTF, Republicans? You control both Houses of Congress, you couldn't hold out for some qualified cabinet picks who aren't lying toadies? I mean, come on. They don't have to rubber stamp any fawning bozo Trump puts before them. They can say "No, go back to the pool and get us a qualified conservative for this position." it's not like if they had said no to DeVos all of a sudden they were going to have Diane Ravitch in the position.
Or have I already ranted about this? I'm just stunned and dismayed at the utter lack of integrity. I don't care how much McCain and McConnell badmouth the Administration or play the word games of "Tough on Trump" they still voted to approve unqualified people just because Trump wanted them.
I'm just so fucking disgusted with it all I can't even listen to the radio or bring up the internet because I'm tempted to go see what the latest train wreck is.
And the media is still not doing the job it should. They need to STFU about the outrageous but ultimately meaningless Trump antics and hammer the shit out of the lies and coverups and the total failure of the Legislative Branch to protect our country and our democracy from ruin.
I don't know that we can recover from this. Once you've accepted that the President of the United States is going to go on record DAILY with yet another complete falsehood, that egregious and ridiculous lies are just a matter of course for his entire administration, how the hell do you come back from that? I don't think you do.
It's kind of like if somebody takes a dump on a dinner plate -- doesn't matter how many times you wash it, nobody ever wants to eat off it again.
Here endeth today's rant. 46929. Trillium - 3/5/2017 3:51:37 PM There is considerable violence and threat of violence against open, vocal Trump supporters in areas where they are a minority (NYC, SFO, LAX). The majority literally threaten, assault, and beat down the minority viewpoint in those places. It is not a credit to Trump's opposition.
SF Gate
You can't go to this site because it's Milo and therefore verboten to the Faithful, but there are videos of recent violence against the political minority in Berkeley. Violence against minorities has always happened -- it happened during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s -- but it's always against founding principles of the country, and always disgusting to people who value freedom of expression, whether perpetrated against Muslims, Sikhs, Jews, or -- Trump voters

46930. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 4:43:48 PM Stop being such a snowflake. You all are the ones talking all the guns. At Coral all of this grandstanding and tough talk is just pure cowardice. I've noted that for decades.
Milo yiannopoulos is a stupid person who figured out that if you eat crayons like my classmate in kindergarten people will stare at you you and get all sorts of attention and the more outrageous things you do the more attention you get. Until you cross a line and let people know how you really feel about pedophilia and then all of a sudden your persona non grata. Seems like such a smart young man would have figured all that out without losing all of his ill-gotten gains overnight. Sucks to be him I guess. 46931. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 4:44:07 PM Toting.... 46932. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 4:44:56 PM And core,,,,
Sunday morning's not my best time for voice to text. 46933. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 4:50:47 PM What I think, no, is they're trying to get his government in place and pass as much stuff as they can before it collapses. It appears it's not working for them at the moment, but dems have to play this smart between now and 2018 and work very hard and efficiently to hold or even gain ground, and that will be hard for them. But I keep expecting somebody to take him in hand and his government just start working like a well-oiled machine, pun intended, but when you look at who's there they just don't have that capability I don't think. How is everything and your own power and put Your hands in the air and hope the roller coaster comes to a stop before it flies off the rail. 46934. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 4:52:09 PM Again, all you can do is everything in your own... I should have slept Another hour. 46935. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 4:57:22 PM My son-in-law is incredibly intelligent. He has a brother 3 years older who got the best of him in every fight, and when he was little my s-i-l would get him in trouble sometimes by banging in the refrigerator when his parents were in another room and then crying. Trill is banging the refrigerator. 46936. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 4:58:05 PM On.... 46937. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 5:15:33 PM No, I absolutely agree with you about the media. I got so disgusted with them in the last two or three weeks of the election that I pretty much turned them all off. I'm very glad to see a return to investigative journalism, and the New Yorkers been good the whole time, and Frankly, slate was one of the other outlets before the election who was doing a pretty good job of calling out the bs. Now I'm liking the Washington Post and some of the nyt again. But there's a lot more investigative journalism and a lot of that was not there during the campaign. We should not be learning all of this stuff now if the media were doing its job. 46938. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 5:16:22 PM Being a stenographer is not journalism, I don't care how in danger or uncomfortable you are. 46939. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 5:18:15 PM another thing I got thoroughly sick of, even when I agreed with him, was Talking Heads sitting around it table batting their jaws about the SOS over and over and over. 46940. arkymalarky - 3/5/2017 6:06:57 PM I was going back to try to find trilliums posts lamenting the violence against minorities just minding their own business and doing nothing, but I can't seem to find them... 46941. judithathome - 3/5/2017 11:04:21 PM Oh wow...the little airport that Trump flies to every weekend in Florida has to shut down while he is there...at a cost thus far of $30,000 to them. No flights of any sort can come in or go out while he's at Mar A Lago.
They didn't say but I wonder if a Care Flight helicopter with a transplant organ for a local hospital would be re-routed? Helicopters are included in the "down time" weekends at that airport.
The people at the airport have contacted the government for compensation but have yet to hear back....duh. 46942. wabbit - 3/6/2017 12:17:13 AM lol, thank you Ms. No!
I wonder how much we'll be on the hook for with flying POTUS back and forth to FL every weekend...good thing he isn't taking a salary, he'll blow through that pittance within three months. So much for giving a rat's ass about waste in the federal budget.
