That sounds way fun Vk.

Our place is in Wondervu CO, less than 15 miles from Nederland, my favorite town in the world. We saw a great fireworks display there a few days ago.

That's a huge savings--20,000 or so to dig one.

Wow! That's a lot. Are they drilling through rock?

4790. arkymalarky - 8/8/2012 1:09:59 AM

Yep, solid rock. Our family cabin well is under 100ft deep, but so many live on the mountain it is now mandatory to go at least 200ft. My family bought their place in 1954 and dug the well in 1964.

Btw, that concrete board siding is expensive! I don't know if we can afford to do the damaged wall with it or not.

Hi, Arky -

I've been trying to get a quote, without success so far, to replace some of my cedar fascia with cement board. How much did they quote you for the siding?

4792. arkymalarky - 8/9/2012 5:41:50 PM

We didn't get one because we'll DIY, but at lowes it was $9 a ft

Monday morning there was a dead armadillo by Stan's car when we were getting ready to go to work. that afternoon, Stan got home and it was buried under a pile of dirt. evidently, Mojo had buried it, and when Stan went to dig it out and get rid of it, she tried to stop him. It was hilarious but frustrating. The dogs kill about two a week.

4795. arkymalarky - 8/30/2012 9:29:15 PM

Where I live got eight inches of rain over the past three days and it is utterly pouring now too!

4797. arkymalarky - 9/1/2012 5:55:25 AM

We didn't end up getting much--under 2".

A welcome visit this afternoon from a red pilated woodpecker. Second time in a week. Damn big bird. Don't believe I've seen one before. Beautiful. Hammering away on an old maple tree.

4803. robertjayb - 11/6/2012 4:54:28 PM

Help!

It is snowing and I am trapped in Wisconsin...

The best thing I've ever put on a bagel, and it's taken years to find it.

Smoked Tuna Salad (i.e. Essa Bagel) – a work in process.

3 oz smoked salmon (West coast, not lox)
6 oz chunk tuna
3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise
3 tbl lemon juice
7-8 baby carrots
Salt to taste (pinches)

Place carrots in food processer and chop finely. Add tuna and salmon and incorporate with food processor. Add lemon juice, salt, and mayonnaise; run processor until desired consistency. May try this with some celery.

4805. judithathome - 11/8/2012 8:24:31 PM

That sounds delicious! Cutting the smoked salmon with canned tuna evens out that strong smoked flavor, too...genius!

4806. judithathome - 11/8/2012 8:25:47 PM

OOOhhh...maybe add a teaspoon or so of dill pickle relish!

Smoked salmon and dill? Primo!
