Resolution setting? Anything more than 72 bpi tends to be superfluous (unless needed for a specific purpose.)

487. CalGal - 10/2/1999 4:07:43 PM

Oh, I see. Isn't there a setting? Scaling, or something like that? I don't scan often, although I've talked my mother through it a few times.

488. pseudoerasmus - 10/2/1999 4:09:43 PM

I really don't know. I have the homosexual at the shop downstairs do the photo scanning for me.

There is only one? Surely, once one adds up Glendajean, Cellar, Elliot, Rising Phoenix, trouserPilot, Ronski....

No. My math skills are lamentable, but I'm sure there is more than one.

494. pellenilsson - 10/2/1999 4:12:38 PM

You can set the width or height in HTML. Width="425" fits within the margins. Height="450" fits most screens except the poor wretches that are on 640x480.

495. pseudoerasmus - 10/2/1999 4:23:15 PM

I wonder what the thread would like with a real margin buster. I'll delete the image from the site if it gets too messy.

496. EricCartman - 10/2/1999 4:24:16 PM

Cal:

I have only heard various florid descriptions of PseudoErasmus. Some of them involve the pink bathrobe, most do not. Either way, he sounds indisputably sexy and naughty. One can only imagine the contre-temps he has with the homosexual at the shop downstairs; the hijinks must be fabulous (or fabular, as the case may be).

Although all the topographic Kamchatka maps may be indicative of Pseudo's desire to play Civilization or Age of Empires online with truly worthy opponents. If that's the case, let's go buddy, I won't smash you too hard (at first anyway).

497. pellenilsson - 10/2/1999 5:51:09 PM

Here is the real Erasmus. Click for full-size view (in new window).

I have just realised that hyperlinks work in preview mode. Another vast improvement over _____.

Pelle:

Obviously you've never seen the parody of that picture. That's about all I can say, because I have regular nightmares about Pseudo. He'll never admit it, but he's out to get me.

Shit. Here he comes again....

Eric

No I haven't. Any hints?

500. EricCartman - 10/2/1999 6:41:19 PM

Pelle:

Yes. Three hints for you: 1) The Eagle has landed. 2) "Good Will Hunting" is better when watched during bad weather. 3) You may e-mail me for hints & tips at ecartman_61@hotmail.com.

501. pellenilsson - 10/2/1999 6:54:52 PM

OK. Next week.

Scanned picture files often have to be resized after they are scanned, which can be done in whatever program the scanner uses (e.g., Adobe PhotoDeluxe).

503. dusty - 10/3/1999 12:55:18 AM

pellenilsson

Yes, and that is a very useful feature, worth publicizing.

504. dusty - 10/3/1999 12:56:03 AM

HINT

Links work in the Check for Dust window.

If you are practicing with images or links, obviously you should use the Check for Dust feature. But Check for Dust not only shows you what the post will look like, it is "active" meaning you can test the links. This is ideal if you are trying thumbnail images, where you are using one image to link to another.

505. dusty - 10/3/1999 1:23:31 AM

HINT

You can make a link to a specific post.

OK, maybe I'm dense. I have seen people do this, and I even saw a post that explained how to do it. But it didn't sink in. So here's how to do it:

  1. Make sure you are in the thread with the post of interest.
  2. Type the post number into the Go To Mote # box and click GO, even if the post you want is on the current page. (This action changes the URL in the browser window so that it refers to the specific post.)It should look something like this:
    http://www.themote.com/viewThread.asp?thread=26&goToMsg=505

  3. Copy the address in the window and use it in a link command.
