That train is so beautiful...makes one want to wear it more than once, that's for sure!

Veil has been officially turned over to the bride. I went to another fitting with her yesterday and the veil looks to be the right length, so it's done.

Her dress has a number of pieces to it. She has a tulle overskirt with a long train for the wedding:

Then for the reception, she can take off the tulle and she has a satin underskirt. I had to design a way to bustle the veil so it would be out of her way if she wanted to wear the veil for at least part of the reception.

It doesn't show in any of these pics, but here is a picture (not on her dress) of the belt she's wearing with her dress:

So the design on the veil had to be strong enough to stand up to the sparkle in the belt and the fullness of the skirt. The lighting at the bridal shop is very good, so I took a close up of the beading on the veil as it shows some of the spark. I think it will serve her well.

So sorry I won't be there to see it....but maybe it's better that way....otherwise I could see myself chasing her around the church and the reception being a mother hen to her veil!

Mostly I'm glad that I was able to get it done without ripping it, staining it, bleeding on it, getting it caught in a door, or having the cat pee on it. I got it to her in one piece...now it's her problem!
;)

Arky and MsNo....Malibu came for breakfast this morning and we had biscuits, omelets, and peach bellinis...have to remember those for next years' gathering.

Although, might need to wait 'til Monday to head back to Texas.

I know this is frivilous info but my husband has done something truly astonishing.

Before we left for Arkansas, he had been re-seeding and babying a section of our front lawn. A weird fungus or something similar had attacked that portion and the grass had died.

He painstakingly dug out all the areas and seeded it, patiently watered it, and it was coming in and filling the bald spots amongst the seemingly healthy St. Augustine which covers the rest of the lawn.

Back from 4 days of being away and the new stuff was fried. And the St. Augustine was turning yellow. So yesterday he went to the garden store...I didn't really pay much attention to what he was doing out there for hours...but evidently, I should have.

He rented a tiller and dug up that entire section...the middle section of our lawn is now topsoil. Not a blade of grass anywhere in that area.

I nearly fainted. Needless to say, to re-sod that area is going to take a pretty penny and lots of water, which isn't cheap in this area.

I guess we're staying home the rest of the summer....

Leaving for Turkey this weekend. I'm pretty excited about seeing the Hagia Sophia! Then I'm off to Italy for three weeks.

Have fun Jen! Stay safe and watch your purse/wallet. You know the drill.

What are your big picture plans for thr trip?

Others doing yard work in Judith's territory:

PELICAN BAY, Texas (AP) — A 62-year-old widow has been charged with murder after her long-missing husband was found buried in the front yard of their rural North Texas home.

Neola Robinson is charged in the death of her husband Ervin Robinson, who was reported missing by his employer in May 2010.

Lonny Haschel, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, says Texas Rangers arrested Robinson on Saturday. Haschel says they exhumed the husband's remains Tuesday from the yard of their mobile home in Pelican Bay, about 20 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

Well, I'm only in Turkey for a day, so I will cram in HS and the blue mosque and then wander around the city. I am meeting up with a former student of mine too. She is working on conflict resolution for her thesis. Pretty cool.

Then I am in Rome for a week, visiting all of the sites I saw last time and trekking through the older areas more.

By train I will go to Florence and Sienna for the remainder of the trip. I will revisit the museums I loved and see some new ones along the way. I am also hoping to look at a time share while I am there. I am officially obsessed with Italy.

I'm just hoping my feet will survive. Evidently the Italians never forsake style for comfort, and I don't want to look like a target with shorts and tennis shoes. So, I am excited for the trip, but afraid I will be in pain traipsing about in heels and dresses. La dolce vita!

Jen please share lots of details when you get back! Stan's friend went to Turkey a few weeks ago and Mose's friend is heading to Italy next week. We're not going anywhere for a while.
But we are going to the beach for our 30th this fall!

4879. arkymalarky - 7/17/2013 8:16:57 PM

I guess we were in the slummy part of Italy because I never noticed people dressed up. I thought it was pretty laid back. which of course I love. I would live in Sorrento.

4880. vonKreedon - 7/17/2013 11:02:41 PM

Have a great time Jen!

4881. anomie - 7/17/2013 11:12:19 PM

Sounds like a great trip, Jen. May all events go to plan and you have a great adventure.
