We're going to our neighbors for Thanksgiving...mainly because this s huge dysfunctional family and it's always "floor show"....

Anyhow, Keoni's "experimental pie" this year is Cherry Chocolate Chip...will definitely report back!

Oh wow! I love chocolate covered cherries so that should be good.

We're having Thanksgiving at our house this year, because my parents are just getting too old for that. So we'll have the dysfunction right here at home.

Went home for a couple of days to e with my mom during dad's birthday and clean out some of his stuff. He still had every PC since the 80vs probably. I took 3 cpus, 3 crts, tons of cables and all of his electronics scraps to the recycling center. Wierd driving around my hometown. Places that were the deep woods are all entire neighborhoods for miles. Stores no longer where they used to be. Crazy.

Mom did okay.

Worst part was going out to lunch with an old friend who in many ways helped raise me. As a means of comparison, his and my parents phone numbers are the only two from tjere I don't need to look up. Always a bit conservative he's turn himself into quite the racist. Obama hates white people. There is a great non white plot to out produce us in fertility and take over the world.

Sad.

I'd disown him if he didn't mean so much to me.

I have a lot of Texas relatives like that. It's hard to separate their political nuttiness and hatred from their personal goodness and as part of my family.

So my 5 yr old woke this morning demanding to cook something... wouldn't say what. I told him he can't cook without a recipe. Frustrated, he said he didn't know until he had a bowl. I said I can't help him if I don't even know the ingredients.

So he goes...

...First I would like 4 apple slices... and a cup of salt.

With some coaxing I present to you the actual recipe.

1 sliced apple.
2 pinches of salt.
4 pinches of cinnamon.

Place apple slices in bowl and add 1 pinch of salt and 2 pinches of cinnamon. Stir with wooden spoon. Add remaining salt and cinnamon and stir again. Adjust seasoning if needed.

Enjoy in bowls.

Love it! He can make it for the family holiday gathering!

I like "adjust seasoning as needed." that will be handy for the salt.

Very good. I will try adding cinnamon to the afternoon snack.

I have recently (past few months) gotten motivated to do some decorating, purging, re-organizing, optimization of my abode. It's random little things that have no real pattern, but I've found that, much as I love lists, I can often get more accomplished if I just follow the random whim to do some task.

F'rinstance

I bought some chalkboard paint and am painting the long center-panel of the vintage ironing board cabinet in my kitchen so that I can write grocery stuff on it.

It's bizarre to me that I chose this project since I'm not a fix-y or cute decorator in the least. But it was fast and it seemed fun. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I have finally brought an actual sample tin of paint home so I can get an idea of whether or not I really do want to paint my living room some shade of yellow. I'm not really a yellow person, but it seems right for the room. We'll see.

Fun! Have you read any of the Konmari system? I bought the book but I want Stan to use it first.

Ha! Yes, I picked up both of them about 3 weeks ago but haven't had a chance to even open them yet. I got them because my friend has been talking about The Joys of Tidying Up for over a year now.

It got to where she felt like some kind of evangelist and would apologize to me for bringing it up, but I'm glad she kept at it because I really like what she describes as Kondo's approach.

Anyway, they're on the "Do List" for the near future.
