At the risk of increasing your stress by piling on the good wishes for what hopefully will turn out to be not of major concern: Good luck, Judith! Thinking of you.

The doctor who did the biopsy was very forthcoming and said we'll know for sure by Monday but that she's not very hopeful, that it looks serious but that it's good that we are going to get to it early.

The surgeon will call on Monday...

I really appreciated her candor.

7659. arkymalarky - 4/12/2012 10:48:34 PM

Oh my. The fact she said "early" and that you like her are two things to keep in mind until Monday. Wish you'd gotten the info today. You're in our thoughts. Call any time.

7660. vonKreedon - 4/12/2012 11:25:23 PM

Continuing to wish the best for you Judith.

7661. wabbit - 4/13/2012 10:00:45 PM

Oh JaH. As the doctor said, early is good. Thinking of you, hoping for the very best.

7662. thoughtful - 4/14/2012 1:41:57 AM

Oh dear...so sorry the news isn't better, but glad it sounds hopeful. Hang tough...likely there is going to be some nastiness ahead, but there are many survivors, and I'm sure you'll be one too.

I'm putting it to the universe for you.

7663. arkymalarky - 4/14/2012 3:16:30 AM

I know a number of people, including my sister-in-law and my principal, and an under 30 former student, who are thriving cancer free years after their diagnosis.

7664. judithathome - 4/14/2012 6:10:22 PM

They called on Friday and it's positive for cancer.

I sort of knew it was because they put a tracer chip in and I didn't think they would do that unless the wanted to definitely locate the area later.

I'm doing fine...will see the surgeon on Monday. I'm very optimistic...my mom had this in exactly the same spot at exactly the same age and she did great. Remained cancer-free and only passed because of a blood clot after hip surgey.

So I have a good example close to home!

7665. arkymalarky - 4/14/2012 8:37:13 PM

That's quite a coincidence.

7666. thoughtful - 4/15/2012 2:12:11 PM

Well, sometimes the confirmation is good emotionally as you don't have to wonder and wait any more. Now it's "git 'er done" time. The sooner you get treated the sooner recovery will come.

Hang tough!

7667. concerned - 4/17/2012 12:15:09 AM

Sorry to hear that, JAH. Hoping for a total remission and cure.

7668. judithathome - 4/17/2012 5:11:04 AM

The surgeon said I should have this done within 2 weeks...I have an appointment with an oncologist on Friday and early next week with a radiologist...going to have just the tumor part and some lymph nodes removed and have 5 weeks of radiology treatments afterward. The tumor is smaller than the size of a pencil eraser...and I'm at Stage 1...which is the best stage to be!

7669. thoughtful - 4/17/2012 1:02:37 PM

Oh that is excellent news!!! So glad you caught it early.

7670. vonKreedon - 4/17/2012 3:17:55 PM

Good news and continuing best wishes to you Judith.

7671. concerned - 4/17/2012 9:16:42 PM

re. 7668 -

That sounds very positive regarding a complete cure that you caught it so early!

7672. wabbit - 4/17/2012 10:54:52 PM

Surgery and radiation and Stage 1, all sounds good!

7673. judithathome - 4/17/2012 11:27:25 PM

I think so, too.

I'm thinking of doing a blog of sorts...but I have no idea how to find a place to do it.

7674. thoughtful - 4/18/2012 12:00:40 AM

Google allows you to do your own blog.

Also visit cancer grace.com...it's a volunteer website where oncologists around the country answer patients and their families questions about cancer and treatments.

7675. thoughtful - 4/18/2012 1:45:16 PM

Sorry it's cancergrace.org

They helped me a lot when I was dealing with mom's cancer.

7676. Wombat - 4/18/2012 3:26:31 PM

Hang in in there, Judith!
