8127. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 12:25:23 AM The older nav had a feature that I miss. When you were on a route and you put it in traffic view it would zoom out and show the next 100 miles or so. On long trips I could see upcoming traffic jams and sometime plan alternate routes or stop and eat rather than suffer. The new one doesn't automatically zoom and it puts a blue route line over the traffic info so you can't see what's going to affect you.
Tasker does more, and power toggles is better than what I was using before. Another app worth getting is easytether 8128. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 12:35:27 AM I'm embarrassed to say how many apps I have on my phone. I'm kind of an app enthusiast. I'll say something to stan about easytether. That's something he'll use and he's a lot more careful about how many apps he puts on his phone. 8129. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 1:02:42 AM Easy tether is better than logging into a public network. Or where there is no network at all. Better than 20/mo for hotspotting too 8130. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 1:03:29 AM Do you have shush! 8131. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 1:11:34 AM haha! no, but I figure I'm about to.... 8132. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 1:15:40 AM There are two, and both sound neat, but the first is already done by moto assist. If you put it in meeting mode or set timers for yourself it will silence your phone when it doesn't need to ring. 8133. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 1:17:38 AM Widgets > iphone. The only iPhone envy I have is bettery life 8134. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 1:18:06 AM Stan uses tasker a lot by the way. 8136. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 1:19:35 AM My iphone battery sucked. So did Stan's. I've also heard that the newest iPhone battery is not that good, though the six plus is supposed to be really good. 8137. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 1:24:41 AM Stan luvs him some widgets as a former iPhone addict. The newest iPhone has widgets, but it's not what android has been for a long time. It's like folders, iPhone came to them way later. I also like to have the option of using another launcher in adjusting my icon sizes and look and feel of my phone and whatever else I want to adjust. 8138. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 1:25:31 AM And damn, the iPhone was more expensive. At least off contract, which is what he's doing because he's grandfathered into unlimited data. 8139. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 1:26:10 AM Tasker functionality should just be part of stock Android 8140. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 2:11:34 AM they added that to the l update to a large degree. 8141. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 4:27:42 AM My wife likes iPhone, but she would rather adopt someone else's system than tweak it.
It is a moral imperative that I tweak.
Not sure if it was worth the money, but I've never owned a top-tier phone before. I bought an Incredible 2 and it lasted me 5 years. This one should go at least that long. 8142. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 5:04:17 AM Stan mainly changed phones for the money. He just got so much more for so much less with with the Moto X over the iphone. And having a personalized phone with a leather back engraved with his name is kinda nice too. The new iPhone is pretty, but it's bulky and not as pleasant to look at and hold as what stan got. With stan's mother, he's on the phone for hours at a time with his family and the Moto X is very conducive for holding a long time. 8143. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 5:05:03 AM The hand free features are great for multitasking. That's become a big thing in the past year for us. 8144. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 1:17:47 PM This phone is big compared to my old phone. I dislike thin, more than width. It could be a little smaller but I think I'll get used to it. I do like how easy it is to read. 8145. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 1:19:18 PM A little harder to type one handed 8146. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 6:26:34 PM I do almost exclusively voice to text. It's actually a lot better than when I started, though I do have to remember to edit, especially when the reception isn't very good.
I made one small adjustment to this post after voice to text. 8147. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 6:27:05 PM I voice insert my punctuation and everything.
