Stan luvs him some widgets as a former iPhone addict. The newest iPhone has widgets, but it's not what android has been for a long time. It's like folders, iPhone came to them way later. I also like to have the option of using another launcher in adjusting my icon sizes and look and feel of my phone and whatever else I want to adjust.

And damn, the iPhone was more expensive. At least off contract, which is what he's doing because he's grandfathered into unlimited data.

Tasker functionality should just be part of stock Android

8140. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 2:11:34 AM

they added that to the l update to a large degree.

My wife likes iPhone, but she would rather adopt someone else's system than tweak it.

It is a moral imperative that I tweak.

Not sure if it was worth the money, but I've never owned a top-tier phone before. I bought an Incredible 2 and it lasted me 5 years. This one should go at least that long.

Stan mainly changed phones for the money. He just got so much more for so much less with with the Moto X over the iphone. And having a personalized phone with a leather back engraved with his name is kinda nice too. The new iPhone is pretty, but it's bulky and not as pleasant to look at and hold as what stan got. With stan's mother, he's on the phone for hours at a time with his family and the Moto X is very conducive for holding a long time.

The hand free features are great for multitasking. That's become a big thing in the past year for us.

This phone is big compared to my old phone. I dislike thin, more than width. It could be a little smaller but I think I'll get used to it. I do like how easy it is to read.

8145. iiibbb - 11/29/2014 1:19:18 PM

A little harder to type one handed

8146. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 6:26:34 PM

I do almost exclusively voice to text. It's actually a lot better than when I started, though I do have to remember to edit, especially when the reception isn't very good.
I made one small adjustment to this post after voice to text.

8147. arkymalarky - 11/29/2014 6:27:05 PM

I voice insert my punctuation and everything.

And moto drive is fantastic. It tells me who's calling, gives me the option to answer ignore or automatic reply and it reads my texts for me and voice to text replies, opens apps, gets directions. It does everything on the road. I don't have to touch my phone for any reason while I'm driving.

Making of a master race?

LONDON, Feb 1 (Reuters) - Scientists in Britain have been given the go-ahead to edit the genes of human embryos for research, using a technique that some say could eventually be used to create "designer babies.

might as well... probably need to adapt faster to climate changes than we can naturally.

8151. judithathome - 2/1/2016 8:54:19 PM

At the rate we're going, they will need to harvest cockroach DNA to save us.

8152. judithathome - 2/18/2017 12:17:01 AM

Jesus...who would have thought it would be a good idea to "harvest" our DNA...until we got a Presidnt who thinks it would be a good idea to "bomb the hell out of a Russian boat off the coast of effing Groton, Connecticut"??

8153. judithathome - 2/18/2017 12:18:12 AM

President....whatever the fuck.

8154. Ms. No - 2/19/2017 9:23:48 PM

Wait, what???

I thought Russia was our best buddy?

Anyone else psyched about the eclipse on Monday? I'll be watching on a computer (while at work, oh well). Thinking of Patsy.

I remember my Dad making a pinhole viewer out of a potato chip can, a pinhole on one end and vellum on the other, pointed toward the sun and all the neighborhood kids in our driveway looking at the eclipse on the vellum. We weren't in the path of totality, but still, pretty cool for little kids in 1963.

Nine years later, we were in MA and doing it all over again in our driveway, teenagers now, but just as fascinated and with the neighborhood in attendance.

I hope parents will do what my Dad did and get the kids excited to see something that doesn't come around in your neck of the woods every year.

Hey Arky, party at your house on April 8, 2024?

8156. arkymalarky - 8/19/2017 11:00:35 PM

It's a date!

Our kids are going outside at 12:45 and we have special glasses for all of them and Moses kids are going as well. I don't know if schools are doing that everywhere, but I think a lot of them are. It would be better for Moses Vantage Point than ours, but that's okay.
