Well, I'm still working on understand what it says, but the text is part of an address made by President Lincoln to the Cherokees granting them amnesty for their participation in the Civil War. It begins,
It is true, that the government's constitution allows the President to pardon those who have wronged the U. S. Government....

I hope you'll post on Cherokee language and the Cherokee alphabet in the Language thread. 931. Cazart - 1/30/2000 11:38:32 PM Hmmmmm.

It may not have occurred to you, but trying to use html and failing consistently (as you do) is highly annoying to read. Please use the "check for dust" key and if it doesn't work, don't post it. 934. Cazart - 1/31/2000 4:50:52 AM TFB, Dan. Just suck it up and bear with it. 935. Dantheman - 1/31/2000 4:54:11 AM cazart,
Or better yet, ignore anything you write, which would probably improve the intelligence quotient of the posts I read... 936. Dantheman - 1/31/2000 5:10:18 AM Translation of my last post for the sake of cazart:
Excuse me, I had you confused with someone who cares whether he looks like a total idiot. Now that I properly understand you, I shall act accordingly. 937. Cazart - 1/31/2000 5:41:38 AM Try the Mote

Spirit Ally: Full Moon F.A. Woll
"A spirit ally is a maifestation of an animal or some natural phenomenon such as the moon's image reflecting off of a river....Different spirit allys are associated with different unique skills that must be kept secret, lest the gift of skill be revoked by the spirit ally..."946. Oooohhh! Aaaaahhh!
Yesssss. 947. sakonige - 2/1/2000 10:39:26 AM Thank you, Candide. I hoped others would enjoy this intriguing image. I don't know anything about the artist. It's an inexpensive print I found in Seattle.
948. jonesatlaw - 2/1/2000 1:12:56 PM sakonige- thank you for the art, I enjoy it. I have loved the art of the southwest and plains for years. I had little old aunties who had taught in mission schools in the twenties and thirties. They were Irish Catholics who went off to transform the lives of Indian children in the name of Catholicism, and came home transformed themselves. They kept art done by their students and by local artists as treasures and shared them with me as a child. It made me something of a snob when it comes to Native American art. I don't enjoy lots of what is popular with "european" collectors, but love the stuff that is firmly rooted in the traditions, even if it goes far beyond them. What you've posted are really wonderful works from any perspective.
