Happy birthday to us!

3268. wabbit - 9/12/2010 2:19:38 PM

Indeed, 11 years. Yikes!

3269. vonKreedon - 9/12/2010 5:57:34 PM

Wow, yeah happy birthday to the Mote!

Fascinating article about 'Brute' Krulak, An All Time Great Marine. Grandfather of long-time Motard.

The Fray of Slate is believed to be closing today.

I have alerted some posters from Fray, to MOTE.

On MOTE, I'd like to know if there's a way to see "More by this USER." And if there's a way to just swing out and replace Fray's features in one way or another.

Hi Sovereign9! Welcome to the Mote! Have you been here before? If not, how did you hear about us? We've been just what you see here for a long time.

3273. iiibbb - 9/21/2011 2:11:26 AM

MORE PEOPLE! (as long as they're nice)

3274. arkymalarky - 9/21/2011 2:21:02 AM

Agree!

Sovereign9

The mote is no-frills... can't search, can't do anything really... but that has it's charm. It's kept the Mote small, and got a bit smaller when more prolific posters flooded the conversations... but it's quiet now... a fine time for some new people to drop in.

Make all URL's active, please. I know the Father of the Motion is more than capable...

3277. Jenerator - 12/4/2013 12:16:19 AM

Last I heard, TcKrulak got his PhD in Theology.

3278. arkymalarky - 12/4/2013 1:21:08 AM

Cool!

3279. Jenerator - 12/5/2013 12:05:05 AM

Krulak's CV. He is a professor these days.

What's resonance up to?

3280. Jenerator - 12/5/2013 12:05:38 AM

(BTW, that's a public link - I just googled his name.)

Don't even know if this will post or not but there is something wrong with either my computer OR with the Mote site...I make posts and they show up, then I come back and they are gone.

This has been happening for over a week...I'll respond and come back to check on new posts and my response, even though it has shown up earlier, has disappeared.

This doesn't happen at other forums so I kinda think it's something unique to the Mote and not to my computer...and if it's not a glitch but a new feature, I'm not that crazy about it. Ha!

3282. judithathome - 1/11/2014 9:35:15 PM

Okay...for instance, I posted that but when I went to the main page, it wasn't there.

So I have found that by hitting "refresh" each time I go to a page, it finally shows up.

3283. arkymalarky - 1/11/2014 9:51:19 PM

your computer's just loading the cached version of the page. Different sites load differently, so I don't know how you fix it in the settings for your browser. Refresh works, but wabbit or msno might tell you more about where the settings are to do that automatically. mine is been said so long I don't remember how to do any of that stuff. In some ways my brain is turning to mush the last few years.I can't remember a lot of things I used to be able to do computer wise and otherwise.

3284. judithathome - 1/11/2014 10:05:53 PM

Well....I haven't changed anything here or on other sites, either...

So, I guess I'll just keep hitting refresh.

3285. arkymalarky - 1/11/2014 10:23:33 PM

Not site settings but the browser and how it loads this site. It may have changed with an update and you wouldn't know it. Most browsers can load new or cached pages when you visit. Do you use ie?

3286. judithathome - 1/11/2014 10:35:06 PM

I have no idea...I'm the wrong person to ask and/or expect coherent answers from...

And yes, I know I ended that sentence with a preposition.
